Children's Underground
The Children's Underground provides hands-on activities that complement the core museum exhibitions. This interactive center features child-sized replicas of period costumes and buildings, which allow children to experience history through constructive play. Children can also explore the natural history of the Yakima Valley through live animal displays and educational exhibits on the areas environment. |

Hours
The Underground is open
Tuesday-Friday — 1:00pm - 5:00pm
Saturday — 10:00am - 5:00pm
Sunday — 11:00am - 5:00pm
Admission to the Children's Underground is included in your paid admission to the museum. The Underground may be reserved for school groups and groups of 15 or more on weekday mornings.

Learning through play
The Children's Underground has many opportunites for constructive play. Climb in a late 1800's pony cart. Try on reproduction clothing and climb on a train. A new child-size recreation of historic Yakima City is nearing completion. The Children's Underground is the stepping-off point for all student tours of the museum, which allows the museum to combine instruction with experiential learning.
